How old do children need to be?
Rainbow is made for ages 4 to 8: Red for 4 to 5, Orange for 5 to 6, Yellow for 6 to 7 and Green for 7 to 8. Ages are a guide. The free Unit 1 helps you choose.
Can we try it without signing up?
Yes. The demos on the home page and on each course page are real lessons that need no account. Unit 1 of every course is also free once a grown-up has an account.
Which units are ready?
Red, Orange and Yellow have 8 units each. Green has Units 1 to 3. Unit 1 of every course is free with a grown-up’s account.
What do we need to play?
A modern web browser on a tablet or a computer, with sound. Phones work best held sideways. Lessons load over the internet, so you need a connection.
What does a licence cover?
A paid plan covers one device: the first browser that opens the course takes the licence. If you change device, contact us and we will move it.
What data do you collect about children?
Only a nickname (letters only) and an avatar. Accounts are created by adults. A child’s voice stays on the device and is never uploaded. See the privacy and cookies page.
Do you use cookies or analytics?
This website can use Google Analytics, but only if you accept it in the cookie banner. Nothing is tracked inside the children’s lessons. Details and your choices are on the privacy and cookies page.
How do we subscribe?
Subscriptions are arranged through our sales team. Use the contact sales button on the pricing page or the request button on a course page, choose your plan in the form, and your message is sent to our team.
Can you create content for our institute?
Yes, for institutes. We can build lessons, units or whole courses around your syllabus and learners in the Rainbow style. Available to institutes, scoped and quoted case by case. See custom content.
Is there a desktop app?
Windows and macOS installers are available to institutes on request. A white-label version, with your institute’s own name and logo, is available on an annual subscription, charged per institution. Available to institutes as a pilot; delivery agreed with each institution. Contact sales for details. School use by agreement. Families play in the web browser with a course subscription.
Can a teacher or tutor use it with a class?
Classroom use is arranged by agreement. Student-seat pricing: US$5 per student per month or US$48 per student per year, minimum 5 students, confirmed in your institutional agreement. School use by agreement. Tell us about your class on the contact page.
Which English do the lessons use?
You can choose US or UK English sounds in the settings.
Do lessons have to be played in order?
By default lessons open one after another. A grown-up can turn that off in settings so children can jump ahead.
